Language Arts
Live: Students will refine their written and oral communication, discover poetry and prose of different genres, and will be introduced to research skills to begin informational writing. Through cycles of narrative, argument, and expository writing, students will acquire the academic modes of writing needed for written communication skills.
Mathematics
Live: Students will be introduced to negative numbers and absolute value, begin to solve inequalities and algebraic functions, discover ratio and unit rates, and build their understanding of the coordinate plane.
Comprehensive Science
Live: Students will begin to understand and apply the scientific process as they learn about the organization, development, and evolution of living things, the foundations of physics and earth science.
World History
Live: Students will investigate early civilizations and the geographic features that shaped their growth, study historical figures, events, and contributions of classical civilizations, and begin to evaluate the rights and responsibilities of American citizenship.
Visual Art
Live: Students will apply critical thinking and evaluation skills to artistic works of their own and others, understand the connection between visual art and other disciplines, develop their own technical skills in visual art creation, and explore and understand new cultures through their artwork.
What is art like in VR? Teaching Art in VR opens so many new possibilities for scholars. A simple lesson about color theory becomes completely immersive in VR. By surrounding the scholars with an environment, they can engage with the content instead of just see it on a screen or book.
Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and Learning Strategies:
Live: Students will master the skills required to problem solve, persevere, research and cite sources correctly, understand context, continuity and change, as well as point of view and meaning from various textual sources.
Latin
Live:Designed with your child’s language proficiency in mind, this course offers an exciting exploration of Latin and Spanish. In Latin Beginning, students will delve into primary and secondary source Latin poetry and prose, mastering the essentials of grammar, developing reading and translation skills, and gaining a deeper understanding of this ancient language. Meanwhile, in Spanish, students will further expand their vocabulary and conversational abilities, exploring language tenses, verb conjugations, and delving into the rich tapestry of Spanish culture and history.
Physical Education
On-Demand: Students will develop physical skills, lifestyle habits, and cognitive strategies to inform and prepare them for a lifetime of physical fitness.
